Monterey Bay Whale Watching
Photos captured while on a Whale Watching and Wildlife Photography Adventure Workshop on Monterey Bay. The biodiversity in Monterey Bay is among the highest of any place on earth. There are many different kinds of wildlife to photograph including: Blue Whales (the largest animal to have ever lived on this planet), Humpback Whales, several species of dolphins including Risso's, Pacific white-sided and common dolphins, several types of porpoises including harbor porpoises, Dahl's porpoise, Brandt's Cormorants, Minke Whales, Leatherback Turtles and occasionally Killer Whales. Other species that are frequently seen include Mola Mola (Ocean Sunfish), Egg Yolk Jellyfish and a great variety of birds including Brown Pelicans, Sooty Shearwaters, Black-Footed Albatross and Pigeon Guillemots with their bright vermillion feet.
